If your appointed school is private, it is good to find the same
flavour private institution in YGN as well. Attend in YGN and gather
the Certs then you should better find your job/carrer in abroad (perhaps
in SG). It is not recommanded to study in SG if your targeted
instituation is a private one and rather new.
I have a story to tell about this by the way. One of my close who asked
me for his/her further plan. I did say that "if you want to go abroad,
you should better start off with education (institutes or academic)
then find a job. The philosophy is that every country favour to its
local qualification, no matter how high or low grade certification you
did own while you are finding a job." It's sort of l10n (localization)
policy which we couldn't see boldly within YGN about this. But soon
after we met again, i have been asked about all these private education
centers or some rather new centers. I said "No, please try
somethingelse.. may be straight away to find work." Then he/she replied
"You've already recommanded me to go for study because of job demand in
the local-favoured-qualification!!"
Well, i admitted that it is not included for these private education
centers. But these doesn't mean that every private education centers
are not good or do not have recognization. There are some which have
their heritage and well-known profiles. But a few thou!! YGN already
have those a few, in my thought. Education centers like well-known
profile might not miss the student, study and education demands from
Myanmar students.

| Deferment of TG Bond
Deferment for Further Studies Q20 What are the deferment criteria if I wish to defer my TG bond for further studies? You will be allowed to defer your TG bond as long as you have gained admission to a course in an academic institution, either local or overseas. You need not be pursuing a higher qualification when seeking deferment for the purpose of further studies. TG recipients who pursue further studies at any of the 10 IHLs do not have to provide a security deposit. However, those who pursue further studies at institutions other than the 10 IHLs will be required to provide a security deposit in the form of a Bankers Guarantee (BG). <TOP> Q21 How do I apply for deferment? What will happen to my bond obligation? Category 1 - Polytechnic TG recipients pursuing degree courses in NUS, NTU or SMU You can apply for admission directly to the University. Upon successful admission, MOE will make arrangements for you to execute a Supplemental Agreement to allow you to defer your TG bond and receive another TG for your studies in the University. Upon the completion of your further studies, you will be required to serve out the 3-year bond obligation under the new TG agreement concurrently with the remaining bond obligation outstanding at the point of deferment. Category 2 - TG recipients pursuing courses in one of the 10 IHLs (except for those in Category 1) You can apply for admission directly to the Institution. Upon the completion of your further studies, you will be required to serve out your remaining bond obligation outstanding at the point of deferment. If you have received another TG for your further studies in one of the 10 IHLs, you will serve out the 3-year bond obligation under the new TG agreement concurrently with the remaining bond obligation. Category 3 - TG recipients pursing courses in local private institutions or overseas Institutions, other than the 10 IHLs You are required to fill up the attached form and submit it together with all the required documents (only certified true copies will be accepted), to the TG Section at least two months before the commencement of your deferment period. Approval for your deferment is subject to you providing a BG. Upon completion of your further studies, you will be required to serve out the remaining bond obligation outstanding at the point of deferment. <TOP> Last Updated on 23 December 2005 Computation of Bankers Guarantee / Extension of Deferment Period |
How do you know that the policy has changed?
* Old FAQ is still available in MS Word document format.
* New FAQ is updated at this MOE TG application page in PDF format.
Now you can compare this two FAQs. For derferment, Old FAQ mentioned at question 14 and New FAQ mentioned at question 20.
For finance matter?
Well, you can take the financial assistant in this way.
80% Tuition Grant (3 years bond)
80% of remain balance can be waived by taking Tuition Fee Loan Scheme (like Poly)
20% of remain balance can be waived by taking NTU/NUS Study Loan (NTUSL) plus S$3600 for study allowance per year.
This information is officially public at:

If you are a fresh graduate, i preferred you to go for work a year
or more. You can save some money and working experience. If you did
work for two years, you can apply for advancement of attachment semester
in university which will result you to finish 6 months earlier. In 4 year full-time study, you have first year advancement because of Poly Diploma, plus presenting working experience for 6 month IAP. So in total, it is only
2.5 year to study out of 3 year. You have to present working
experience, job offered letter or income tax to admission office.
(focus its site for more details)
So that you can have some life style like using credit card, shopping of what you like, take a trip to Phukat
or travelling around. And you can also have the idea of job scope which
we actually are doing in industrial, office or work environment
reflected to your diploma. This can make you to be a mature person and the mini entry of life style
about what is in real world, how you can look back your parents and
family, the revision of how's your parent brought you up,
self-controlling of money matter by yours and many, many more about
life style which i can't cover up to mention!!

The 10 Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) are:
1 ) National University of Singapore (NUS),
2 ) Nanyang Technological University (NTU),
3 ) Singapore Management University (SMU),
4 ) Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP),
5 ) Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP),
6 ) Temasek Polytechnic (TP),
7 ) Singapore Polytechnic (SP),
8 ) Republic Polytechnic (RP),
(The following two shools are definately suited for those who are art minded like fashion designer as a career, etc..)
9) Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and
10 ) LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts.
Now you may ask me about the adminssion for those schools. Please
visit to your interested schools accordingly and read through. Good
tips to browse by;
1) Find the course by in term of Faculty/Department/School
2) Make sure to overview the Syllabus/Course/Program
3) Find admission department webpage for admission criteria which
related to MOE Tution Grant matter (they will be surely stated about
that!)
Or
Still no idea about what to do then you should spend some money to
consult with local education centers like RV, Joint Com, MCC, etc.
Well, i also heard that Temasek Poly going to conduct the course in Ygn
soon. Poly is not a age restricted but it is favoured not more than 25.
But i have seen a person who was about 28 and attended the TP, in 2005
intake!
Very very big question which i almost could not give an answer but please readon:
If i already have a degree from Myanmar (in some major)??
Think first, whether you still want to study
or
You just want to work/find some career in abroad(Sg)
I have to highlight this category because you have to totally clear about your thoughts before you make any decision. Always remember that you already owned some Professional Certificate(s) with your Accredited Degree institute.
You may not need to study anymore and/or just focus to find your carrer/job. My
suggestion is that please don't take a risk to get institute without a throughout plan (it's worst
that if you're looking private institution) while you are actually
thinking about for job/career in abroad(SG). Our hunt here in this category is: Job & Visa (PR/SPass), don't you?
Practically, go for Master Study if you are still looking for higher education and still minded to study. Even spending 3-years Poly Study is another good idea if you are about to go a work/career. In my time, some YIT Mechanical/Electrical degree holders came Poly to get the diploma for finding their job/career. Poly diploma is more alike Professional Certificate to secure a job rather than academic credited.
By then your age is now a big concerned. Remember the targeted age for Poly mentioned above. You are a degree holder so you would probably around -25+ or more. I have no detail answer for that. Perhaps, you should find some jobs either in YGN or abroad which suit you or do some own business. I can just advise that it has to be made it clear for those people who truely focusing on study and those people who are more into Job and Career.
For those who holding Computer and IT realted fields study, you might hunt a few full-time graduate diploma courses offered by NUS.
For those who holding E-Major or language related fields study, and have an experience on teaching related field, you might hunt a few full-time graduate diploma courses offered by NIE. In other term, "Teaching as a Career"
Anyway, good luck!
The following informations are not 100% upto date and I ain't guranteed how accuracy of the information. The analysis just researched through published respective web contents and through some of my close friends' given informations.

The following are not IHLs by MOE. All known to be as Private institute and university relateing to Business, Management and other courses.
UniSIM is another popular private university. I heard a good feedback from those who attended. It is saying that UniSIM is going to 4th Singapore MOE recognized university soon. (But this information is not confirmed yet and Wikipedia universities list for Singapore stating at 4th place.)
And SIM is upper management of UniSIM, known as the SIM Education Group and offering degrees from oversea universities, which mean your degree will be credited by appointed university by SIM, not UniSIM. Most degrees are from Australia Universities.
Nanyang Institute of Management, the major range of Bussiness, Nursing, Language, Tourism and Hospitality. Heard that the school has joint or opening related in Myanmar as well. Get to school website for more information.
Well, most of us came to Singapore for study especially Engineering. In this article, I also highlighted not only Singapore engineering institute but also famous engineering institute around Asia. From previous discussion on phpbb forum, study in norway is pretty expensive unless who can get scholarship. One of NYP graudate who attended NTU met one exchange student from Norway said that:
They were like "wow everything is damn cheap in Singapore" and I was like "what da heck!"
So, it is said that as long as you can apply for scholarship, why not! I also heard that it is good for master learning as well. Just one of wide option. Here is a BBC Burmese Learning quote:
BBC wrote: Norway may be one of the best places to study in Europe from BBC Burmese - Studying in Norway.

First, remember, a paper is not a first place in Arts and Music logic.
I have copy one article from www.myanmar-scholar.co.cc
Browse through the university websites, read the requirement and download the application from and booklet. For your convenient, the following table listed mainstream program. Please note the web links. This is not complete list and beware of accuracy. Most M. Sc program also offer as post-grad diploma with lower entry requirement or not so related educational background. In fact post-grad diploma can easily upgrade to M. Sc program by maintaining grading to M. Sc program during the study. Print five copy of referee request form from the application. You can also request several copies of application form and booklet from the university. The packages are really nice and encouraging.
| Program | Who | Application period/deadline | Application fee | Tuition fee |
| NUS M. Sc Engineering | Engineering graduate | 1) Jan/Mar 3 2) July/Sep 3 | S$ 30 | S$ 6,720 per year |

| SMF scholarship | Outstanding graduate | Open | - | Waive for scholar |
As soon as final results come out; go to the registration office request degree certificate, grading (for all years) and academic transcript. The process is not as strain forward as it should be. It is not just filling the form and waits for a few days to get the requested documents. You have to consider who will type and sign your documents. The process goes smooth, if you get help from one of the officer in the registration office in return for a token of appreciation. Some regional universities might not know what is ‘academic transcript’ and may insist there is no such document issued by the university. In this case, please print this copy, show them and ask to produce similar one. Always check the document for error and correction. There should be any correction in these documents. In case you see correction, you should request new document instead. You can also request recommendation for English Language proficiency from the English department. Before you request you have to print out similar to the following form and get the sign and seal form the department. Request two referees letter from your two professors. Preferably strongly recommended be commended. In the application requirement, you will see statement of S$12,000 financial support is requested. It is not serious and not always necessary. There are several ways to get financial statement. One easiest and doable ways is write your ask your parent that they have far more than S$12,000 in their pocket and get translated in good notary service. People also ask their friend in Singapore to get statement of financial support letter and a copy of passbook with balance of over S$12,000. In fact the official way is to request statement of financial standing to the bank, which cost S$20. Thought little fanny, if you have 100,000 kyats in your Myanmar bank account, why not convert it according to official rate and make a statement. After you get all the document make five original copy. You have to get and sign and seal form the university on the copy to make authentic. Alternatively you can request five original set. Two set of copy is not enough and 10-sets is over kill. Five-copies is optimal.
You should apply as soon as document are ready and there is no reason to wait for the last minutes to submit document in DHL. You will apply as many programs as you can reasonably afford. In number of successful applicant, NTU score consistantly higher, so if you are tight in budget, you may want to skip NUS.
You can apply online from the web or offline (see web links in the above table) by filling out the form. Do online if possible. Some difficult was reported when applying online. You can use without SSL online application form to reduce the bandwidth. You will apply full-time program not part-time program even if you are working in Singapore. You will supply your contact address in the acknowledgement card. Make sure post office deliver to the address. Do not use the address that post office never delivers before. It is note that the address is not necessarily your address but it is your contact address. If you don’t receive the acknowledgement letter within one month, you should enquire by email.
Generally, you get help from one of your brother or friend’s friend’s friend in Singapore to pay the application fee. It is quite easy to pay the fee from ATM if you give your application number. Note: you will get application number only if you apply online. For offline application, you will send the application package and pay the fee on the application reception counter. Of you are in great difficulty, please contact us.
It is also not true that your application will not be processed without application fee. I got successful application in NUS M. Sc coursework program without paying application fee. It is also note that some program such as MBA application waive application fee for those who has outstanding GMAT record.
Even if you apply online, you still need to submit printed application form from the online. Most economical and safest way is to parcel one of your friend going from Myanmar to Singapore. It is also fine to send registered mail from Yangon main post office. Make sure you go through document scrutiny and get the seal in the post office. As always there are people welling to help you for 500 kyats for this process. But do not trust them for posting. Keep the registration number, it is 7 digits.
You should received acknowledge letter. Check the acknowledge card carefully whether they are asking additional document that you miss in the application package. In a rare event that, there is ambiguous statement, you will receive your application package back with their request in red ink. You can to correct and send them back.
If you apply online, you can get instant application status online in the same web page as you apply the application form. Finally you will received the result via email and mail. The application status flag is somewhat encrypted during processing. Selection process approach elimination procedure that is why unsuccessful applicant will get the result first. ‘RESERVED’ means you application is considered they university requirement and they are willing to accept, but they received a number of applicant they can accommodate. However if the applicant do not take the offer (since they already got offer in other program) and seats are available you will get it. Finally you will get ‘SUCCESSFUL’ or ‘UNSUCCESSFUL’ flag. Since intermediate result has some inside about your selection process, it is worthwhile to check online during application selection process.
Do full medical check up and get the certificate with chest X-ray film. It is even better if you can fill up in the medical checkup form for student pass application which comes with enrollment package. In fact, you can download the form from ICA web site here. This not only solves one unforeseen issue but also save small amount of cost. It is not true that Hepatitis B carrier is not allowed entering to Singapore. This common misconception probably comes from medical world because medical professionals are required to do so. The only two important medical checks are HIV and Tuberculosis. Properly filled medical checkup form by authorize doctor with chest X-ray in Myanmar is accepted for student pass application.
One common medical problem with the student is related to dental. Do all necessary dental reconditioning such as patching tooth holes. Carry as many as you can when entering to Singapore. Maximum allowable language weight in air line is 20 kg, but student get at least 30 kg and no problem until 40 kg. Hand-in carry limit is 7 kg officially but carry as if not limit until you can walk normally. One excellent hand carry is 20” inches polo trolley bag. Must sure heavy thing are in the hand-carry since it is not weighted. Food is one of the main things you have to bring.
Foods containing viable seeds are not allowed to transfer from one country to another for maintaining natural ecological systems, but people seem to pay little in this respect. But don’t bring live pet or plant. When accepting friend parcel, ask what are inside and open it if necessary. Do not carry expensive item like jewelry or foreign currency. They are illegal to export other countries.
